I love seeing you work and the perspective in scale! I thought it was much smaller (but I should've known better). Congratulations to Alice for winning! Dang--I was hankerin' for a piece of your angel.

I'm shooting for this coming weekend when I get the kids back. I'm hearing great things about it. We just saw Kung Fu Panda, and it was AWESOME. We just sort of went along not really sure how it would be but we busted a gut and will buy the DVD.

Well, if it's the Colosseum then Alice got it on the first day. But, just in case I'll say either the NASCAR racetrack in Rockingham, NC or the Circus Maximus in Italy.

Power plants are not going to produce more energy than what is demanded- thats just bad business- and they are in it for the money. If a CFL uses 1/4 the amount of electricity thats 3/4 less demand, therefore they will produce less electricity. Thus lowering the amount of mercury directly entering the environment, where it is most dangerous.

As to CFLs entering landfills, this could be avoided by recycling. The Home Depot announced its CFL recycling program yesterday (6/25). Since 80% of homes are with 10 miles of a local The Home Depot store recycling CFLs should no longer be an issue.

I understand that many people are concerns with the breaking of CFLs but as long as you vent the room for at least 15 mins the mercury levels dissipate to a minimum. Follow the cleanup instructions at www.energystar.gov to ease your worries.

I guess I'm blessed that most of my beasties like this kind of food too. The older one (soon to be 16) is selective, but she eats very healthy so I can't complain.

Happy Father's Day Phillip and I hope you have a wonderful time!

58 Jun 14, 2008 10:18:38 PM
Philip on Sloth Recipe

That's up to you! You stop offering chicken nuggets, period. You after all are the one making the decisions. And you play up the good things, and say, "Well I know when you were younger that you didn't like flounder, but now that you've grown up and your taste buds are different, I know you're going to love this . . ." And you insist that they try it. And if they make a face then you smile and say, "Thank you very much for being brave and trying that. Now would you like shrimp, or just some vegetables for dinner?"

They will end up loving what you love, and eating what you serve them. Don't take the easy route, and play up the healthy stuff!

And remind them of how great it is that they are eating things that are so good for them, and so good for their minds, their bodies, how it will make them better at X,Y, and Z (their favorite activities) and how proud you are of them for being sooooo grown up.

Oooh...sounds like such a great day. Can I come? I'm stuck here working all day (Book deadline!!!-- bleh.)

But I HAVE to ask. HOW do you get your kids to eat thinks like shrimp, and salad? My beasties are so picky, and the 4 year old thinks that chicken nuggets (UGH) are a primary food group!!!

When I first started a job painting houses outdoors, my fellow painters -- who were working on a two-story, metal rolling scaffold, made endless fun of me the first day. Toward the afternoon though, a huge, black thunderhead rolled in.

"Nice lightning rod, you have there boys," I said to the guys on the scaffold.

Squirrels couldn't have run down a tree faster than these guys came off that scaffold.

I can see the logic of NOT working on the angel during stormy weather.
